“Não conhecia o Google …”: Shashank Singh credita PBKS por ser o 9º atleta mais pesquisado, ansioso para conhecer o capitão Shreyas Iyer

Shashank Singh has credited his IPL franchise Punjab Kings for becoming the ninth most-searched athlete on Google. Following his stellar performance in the previous season, the batter found himself on the list of top 10 most-searched athletes on Google. The “wrong” Shashank proved to be the perfect find for PBKS as he aced his role as the finisher. Now, he is looking forward to IPL 2025 where he will play under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy.

Shashank credits PBKS for his rise to fame

As per a Punjab Kings press release, Shashank acknowledged that being ranked 9th on Google’s list was a big thing although he was unaware of such rankings. He credited PBKS for his achievement, adding that the franchise had always backed him. He said that he felt good that people were searching for him and providing a validation for the hard work he has put in.

“I didn’t know Google releases a list of people who are most-searched across the world. It’s a big thing, honestly. It has been possible because of Punjab Kings,” Shashank said.

Shashank further express his excitement to share the dressing room with captain Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2025. He recalled that he had played cricket with the Mumbai batter at the junior level and in the DY Patil T20 Cup. Singh said that he was also eager to reunite with the prolific Suryansh Shegde.

“I’m excited to meet Shreyas because I have played cricket with him in the junior level. We played together in the DY Patil T20 Cup and we share a good bond. I’m very excited to play under his captaincy this season. I’m also very excited to reunite with Suryansh, who is also from the same DY Patil team,” Shashank added.

Singh, who was retained for Rs 5.50 crore, will be looking to add more runs to his tally in the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
