Shubman Gill wanted to learn lessons from the past and maximise the powerplay scoring options for Gujarat Titans and the captain walked the talk with a 14-ball 33 until he fell to Glenn Maxwell in the GT vs PBKS IPL 2025 clash.
Shubman Gill has been with GT from their first season in the IPL in 2022. In the first year, he scored 483 before following that up with an Orange Cap-winning 890 next season.
Gill took over as captain of the Titans last summer after Hardik Pandya moved back to the Mumbai Indians to take over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma.
On Tuesday, as Gujarat Titans took on Punjab Kings and chased an intimidating 244, Gill had no option but to unleash some of his famous shots to give his team a strong platform.
Shubman Gill shines
Shubman Gill was particularly harsh on Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai, who gave away 29 runs in his first 2 overs.
Gill was in outstanding touch as he has been all this year in ODIs and he was well on course for a rapid half-century before falling to notorious partnership breaker, Glenn Maxwell.
This was Maxwell’s 38th wicket in the IPL and the Australian superstar would be thrilled to make some kind of contribution after falling for a golden duck earlier in the evening.
